This coming Thursday 27th April, SEA INSTALLER goes on hire at DONG Energy’s Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm. The vessel arrived in Hull this weekend and is currently undergoing the final preparations for the project comprising 91 Siemens Wind Power 6MW turbines.

Simultaneously with SEA INSTALLER operating from Hull, SEA CHALLENGER is also loading turbines for Statoil’s Dudgeon OWF in Hull. Master on board SEA INSTALLER, Jan Riisgaard reports a crew top motivated and ready for the installation; “Our last project, Burbo Bank Extension, was completed in December and during the last couple of months, the vessel has undergone a renewal survey conducted by DNV-GL. We are all ready to start the installations of turbines – and as usually, in a safe and professional manner.”

The Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm is located approximately 17 miles off Blakeney Point on the North Norfolk coast. When fully commissioned in 2018, the Race Bank OWF will provide enough electricity to power 400,000 UK homes.
