On 9 May 2017, SEA INSTALLER, together with DONG Energy and Siemens Wind Power, installed the first turbine on the 573MW Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm for DONG Energy.
The first turbine out of the 91 Siemens 6MW turbines was installed safely on 9 May by the experienced crew on board SEA INSTALLER, counting both DONG Energy, Siemens Wind Power and A2SEA. For the next months, SEA INSTALLER will load turbines in Hull side by side with the sister vessel SEA CHALLENGER, currently installing turbines for Statoil’s Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm.
“First, it is a great pleasure to have both vessels loading in Hull simultaneously. A magnificent sight to see them side by side. At A2SEA, we are very proud of having such a tight pipeline of projects and I am sure that both our crew offshore and on shore will once again execute a project on time, on budget and safely to the satisfaction of both our client DONG Energy and installation partner Siemens Wind Power,” says Jens Frederik Hansen, CEO at A2SEA.
The Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm is owned by DONG Energy and is situated 17 miles off Blakeney Point of the North Norfolk coast. When fully commissioned by 2018, the Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm will provide well over 500,000 UK homes with renewable power.
