A2SEA History

Following the Kyoto agreement, the Danish government in cooperation with the Danish power suppliers produced an action plan for offshore wind turbines on a large scale. Based on the results of the plan, Kurt E. Thomsen owner of Danish Crane Consultants worked out a total concept for transport, installation, operation and maintenance of offshore wind turbines. The concept was recognised as the most promising and reliable method for installing offshore wind turbines by the turbine manufacturers.

A2SEA was consequently founded in the year 2000 with the overall aim of supplying the wind turbine industry with solutions for transport and installation of wind turbines and foundations, plus providing service solutions for the operation and maintenance of offshore wind turbines. In 2001 A2SEA received the first major order to transport and install 80 turbines at Horns Rev for Vestas Wind Systems A/S and in December 2001 and April 2002 the converted container vessels M/V SEA POWER and M/V SEA ENERGY were launched.
